At the Shanghai-Keqiao Diamond League meeting, South Africa's Akani Simbine narrowly won the 100m in a photo finish, clocking 9.98 seconds and edging out Jamaican Olympic silver medallist Kishane Thompson. Armand “Mondo” Duplantis dominated the pole vault, winning with a meeting-record jump of 6.11 meters, but was unable to surpass his own world record despite multiple attempts. Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh continued her strong form by winning the high jump as the only woman to clear 2.00 meters. In the men's 400m hurdles, Norway's Karsten Warholm posted the world's fastest time this year at 47.28 seconds. American Cordell Tinch made headlines in the 110m hurdles by recording the fourth-fastest time ever at 12.87 seconds. The event showcased several athletes building momentum ahead of the upcoming World Championships.
