40-Year-Old Driver Dies in Newmarket Two-Vehicle Collision

A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Cotton End Road in Newmarket involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Volkswagen Touran. The 40-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen was declared dead at the scene, while a male passenger from the same vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries. The Vauxhall's driver sustained minor injuries, and its passenger also suffered serious injuries; both remain hospitalized. Emergency services including Suffolk Police, Suffolk Fire and Rescue, East Anglian ambulance service, and an air ambulance responded to the incident. The road was closed between Landwade Road and Red House Stud but reopened by the following morning. Authorities have appealed for witnesses or dash cam footage to assist with the investigation.
