Hong Kong is solidifying its role as a leading sustainable finance hub in Asia, with green and sustainable debt issuance exceeding $84 billion in 2024, capturing 45% of the regional total and maintaining its top rank in Asia since 2018. The city leverages its unique advantages, including a common law system, a competitive tax regime, and bilingual workforce, to act as a premier gateway for international cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), whose economy now surpasses $2 trillion. Hong Kong leads the GBA in financial services, trade and logistics, and culture, sports, and tourism, while Shenzhen and Guangzhou excel in innovation, manufacturing, and real estate. Industrial growth in the region accelerated in 2025, driven by innovation and technology and manufacturing sectors, with AI playing a significant role in boosting efficiency and new income streams despite challenges in AI literacy and data security. The Hong Kong International Airport is being positioned as a vital infrastructure for the GBA and global markets, facilitating the expansion of mainland companies overseas. Overall, Hong Kong's strategic initiatives, including the new GoGlobal Task Force and enhanced regional connectivity, aim to promote high-quality collaborations and support mainland enterprises in expanding globally, reinforcing its status as a global financial and innovation hub.
