Taiwan University Researchers Report Serum May Stimulate Natural Hair Regrowth Within 20 Days
Recent studies have introduced promising advances in hair loss treatments that may surpass current options like hair transplants. Researchers from National Taiwan University developed a topical serum containing naturally derived fatty acids that stimulate fat cells under the skin to trigger dormant hair follicle stem cells, promoting natural hair regrowth within about 20 days, as demonstrated in mouse models. This mechanism involves minor skin injury prompting fat cells to break down stored fat and release fatty acids, which then activate hair stem cells, a process linked to controlled skin inflammation known to aid hair regrowth. Alongside this, another innovative approach from Chinese and Australian researchers improves the absorption of minoxidil, a longstanding hair loss medication, by combining it with microneedles made from stevioside, enhancing delivery directly into hair follicles. Both treatments highlight novel biological pathways and delivery methods that could transform hair loss management, potentially reducing reliance on surgeries and improving patient outcomes. However, these findings are primarily in preclinical stages and require further human trials for validation.
