NYPD Fatally Shoots Driver of Stolen Porsche

A 28-year-old man driving a stolen Porsche was fatally shot by NYPD officers in Brooklyn after attempting to evade a traffic stop on the Belt Parkway. Police identified the car as stolen from Pennsylvania and tried to pull it over, but the driver fled, maneuvered through a police roadblock, and nearly struck an officer. An officer fired at the vehicle, hitting the driver, who then crashed into a police car before being pronounced dead at a hospital despite lifesaving attempts. A passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody. The deceased driver was reportedly on federal probation for interstate transport of stolen vehicles. The incident, including the near-collision with an officer, was captured on body camera and is under investigation.
