NJ Correctional Officer Charged Distributing K2 Hudson County Jail
Marquis Santiago, a 33-year-old correctional police officer at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, was arrested and charged with distributing synthetic marijuana (K2) and conspiracy to distribute it, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello. Between January and April 2025, Santiago provided K2 to inmate Francisco Salcedo, who then distributed the drug throughout the facility, including to another inmate, Israel Rosado. Alvin DeLeon, a Bayonne resident, was also charged with conspiracy to distribute K2 for assisting in the drug distribution process. Santiago was arrested at the prosecutor's office and released pending a court hearing, while the inmates were charged via summons at the jail. This arrest is part of a broader narcotics investigation involving multiple individuals, including a retired police detective and a 911 dispatcher. Hudson County officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining safety and integrity within the correctional facility.
