Aurora Police Arrest Honduran National for I-225 Shooting, Driver in Critical Condition

Aurora police arrested Celin Villeda Orellana, a 38-year-old Honduran national who has been deported three times, including for child sexual assault charges, in connection with a shooting on Interstate 225 that left a driver critically injured and on life support. The shooting occurred early on October 18, when officers responded to a single-vehicle crash caused by the victim, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Using Flock Safety cameras with license plate readers, police traced the suspect vehicle to Orellana, who was found to have been following the victim throughout the day and was planning to flee the country. He was arrested near East 11th Avenue and Havana Street and subsequently taken into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
