Police Correct Identity of Remains in Arizona Landfill

Authorities have identified the human remains found at a privately run landfill in Surprise, Arizona, as those of 23-year-old local resident Raquel Marie Morales. Her body was discovered by an employee on April 17, and the identification was confirmed and announced on May 1 after review by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office. Morales had not been reported missing before her death. Police initially misidentified the remains as belonging to a Phoenix woman, but later corrected this to Morales. The cause and manner of her death are not yet released, but the case is being treated as suspicious.
