Reading, Ipswich, Somerset Propose Emission-Based Parking Charges

Reading Borough Council is currently consulting on a proposal to implement emission-based parking charges aimed at encouraging the use of low or zero-emission vehicles and reducing air pollution. Meanwhile, Ipswich is considering a different parking strategy that would impose higher fees on larger vehicles to manage parking availability, with the potential implementation date set for June 1. In contrast, Redcar and Cleveland Council has scrapped plans for parking charges at Flatts Lane Country Park after local residents expressed concerns that fees would deter visitors.
