Runaway Kangaroo Sheila Causes Highway Shutdown in Alabama

A kangaroo named Sheila escaped from her owner's property and was seen hopping along Interstate 85 in Macon County, Alabama, prompting authorities to shut down both directions of the highway to ensure safety. The incident caused significant traffic disruption and led to two vehicle crashes, though no injuries were reported to people or the animal. Sheila was ultimately subdued with a tranquilizer dart by her owner, Patrick Starr, and was safely returned home after being checked by the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Starr, who runs a pumpkin patch and petting zoo, said Sheila is a personal pet and was unharmed, eating and drinking normally after the ordeal. The unusual sight surprised many motorists and local law enforcement, with officials expressing relief that the situation ended safely.
