Elaine Hendrix Hospitalized After DWTS Rehearsal Injury

Elaine Hendrix was rushed to a hospital and carried out on a stretcher after a rib injury seized up during rehearsal for Dancing With the Stars' Halloween Night, briefly leaving her unable to move or breathe. Because she could not perform live, the show aired rehearsal footage of her Argentine tango with partner Alan Bersten, which the judges scored 32/40 (all 8s), and the couple remained eligible to advance pending viewer votes. From her hospital bed Hendrix posted that she was devastated to miss the live performance but that doctors expect a day or two of rest and say the injury does not appear to be a fracture. Hosts, judges and fellow contestants rallied around her, and DWTS medical staff assessed her during the taping. Bersten described the moment as frightening when Hendrix "froze" mid-dance and was briefly unable to breathe.
