Promoted Sunderland Stun Chelsea With Stoppage-Time Winner
Sunderland, newly promoted, snatched a 2-1 stoppage‑time comeback at Stamford Bridge as Chemsdine Talbi’s 93rd‑minute finish — set up by Brian Brobbey’s hold‑up play — secured their first win there since 2014 and moved them provisionally to second in the Premier League. Chelsea had taken an early lead through Alejandro Garnacho but were largely frustrated thereafter and were hampered by the absence of injured playmaker Cole Palmer. Wilson Isidor levelled in the 22nd minute from a chaotic long throw, and manager Régis Le Bris praised his squad’s togetherness and the impact of substitutes. The result halted Chelsea’s winning run, cost manager Enzo Maresca valuable points in the title race, and underscored Sunderland’s excellent start to the season — their best top‑flight form since 1999.
