Three Dead, Two Critically Injured in I-96 Crash, Howell Township

A tragic crash on Interstate 96 in Howell Township, Michigan, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left two others critically injured. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a 54-year-old man from Sterling Heights driving a BMW lost control, crossed the median, and collided with a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. The driver of the Mountaineer, a 68-year-old man, and a 91-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while two other female passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The BMW driver later died at the hospital. Authorities are investigating potential factors such as alcohol, speed, and seatbelt use. The highway was closed for approximately four hours for investigation and cleanup.
