Palm Bay Council Censures Langevin Over Anti-Indian Posts

Chandler Langevin, a Republican member of the Palm Bay City Council, posted a series of social media messages calling for the mass deportation of Indian immigrants and accusing them of draining U.S. resources and harming the South. His remarks prompted condemnation from residents, national Indian American advocacy groups, and lawmakers including Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who called the rhetoric dangerous. After weeks of public outrage and crowded council meetings, the Palm Bay City Council voted 3–2 to formally censure Langevin, stripping him of committee roles, limiting his council participation, asking the governor to consider suspension, and referring the matter for further ethics review. Mayor Rob Medina and other local leaders said demeaning language has no place in Palm Bay. Langevin defended his posts as aimed at temporary visa holders, said they were intended to provoke discourse, and claimed some conservative Hindu support.
