WISA 2026 Biennial Conference Seeks Global Water Sector Innovations

The Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) is preparing for its 2026 Biennial Conference themed “Rethink Amanzi – Securing Our Future,” which seeks to address sustainable and equitable water management amid growing challenges like aging infrastructure and climate change. This conference aims to foster integrated, innovative solutions across eight subthemes, highlighting the interconnected nature of water issues. Meanwhile, Nebraska faces a parallel infrastructure challenge as it seeks to power a bioeconomy vision that demands significant increases in electricity generation, transmission, and grid capacity to support new industries rooted in agriculture and sustain economic growth. Both Southern Africa and Nebraska underscore the critical role of infrastructure—whether water or energy—in supporting socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, and future prosperity. These efforts reflect a broader need for innovative, collaborative approaches to infrastructure planning and management to meet rising demands and complex challenges in different regions.
