LIV Golf Korea Begins at Jack Nicklaus Course, $25 Million Purse

LIV Golf is hosting its first event in Korea at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, which previously staged the 2015 Presidents Cup. The event features 54 players, including notable names like Louis Oosthuizen, Dustin Johnson, and Phil Mickelson, competing for a $25 million purse, with $4 million awarded to the winner. Oosthuizen, reflecting on his strong 2015 Presidents Cup performance at this venue, is among several players with previous wins in Korea. Following Joaquin Niemann’s recent victory in Mexico City, Legion XIII, captained by Jon Rahm, leads the season-long team competition. Bryson DeChambeau and Talor Gooch shared the opening-round lead with 65s, while the course's design has facilitated low scores and a competitive field. The league will take a break after this event before returning to action in Washington, D.C.
