Chinese Premier Li Qiang Plans Singapore Visit, Leads Regional Summit Meetings in Malaysia

Chinese Premier Li Qiang will make his first official visit to Singapore from October 25 to 26, marking the first visit by a Chinese premier in seven years and coinciding with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China. During the visit, Premier Li will meet with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss bilateral ties and witness the signing of agreements related to green development, the digital economy, and training. Following his Singapore visit, Li will attend major ASEAN-related summits in Kuala Lumpur, including the 47th ASEAN Summit and other regional meetings, where leaders including US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present. Singapore and Thailand are also enhancing ties, with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul planning a visit to Singapore in November focusing on the green economy, food technology, and food security. Concurrently, India will participate virtually in the 22nd ASEAN-India Summit, highlighting efforts to strengthen ASEAN-India relations amid regional challenges. These diplomatic engagements underscore a broader commitment to multilateralism, free trade, and cooperation in economic and regional security matters in Southeast Asia.
