Law Enforcement Arrests Suspect in Macomb Township Businessman's Attempted Murder

Law enforcement arrested a 32-year-old man Sunday in Warren in connection with the Oct. 14 attempted murder of Macomb Township gas station owner Eddie Jawad, following a multi‑agency raid at a Rivard Avenue residence that was captured on video. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said the operation involved Warren Police, the FBI Violent Crimes and Gangs Task Force, the MCSO SWAT and drone teams and other units. Security footage released shows a gunman lying in wait, emerging from between parked vehicles to fire more than a dozen shots into the passenger side of Jawad’s SUV as he tried to drive away, wounding the 61‑year‑old in the leg; the shooter then fled in a 2020–2022 black Ford Escape with a stolen plate. Investigators say surveillance video and witness statements led them to the Warren home where officers executed a door‑breaching entry around 5 p.m.; the probe remains active and authorities have not fully detailed the arrestee’s role. Jawad, who owns several metro Detroit gas stations, is expected to be okay and no arraignment date has been set.
