Death Metal Guitarist Killed in Police Standoff

Brian Montana, 60, former guitarist of death metal band Possessed, was shot and killed by police in South San Francisco after a 25-minute standoff that began with a dispute over tree debris. The situation escalated when Montana fired into his neighbor's house, injuring a resident with non-life-threatening wounds. During the confrontation, Montana used a handgun, shotgun, and rifle to fire multiple times at officers while taking cover behind vehicles and landscaping. Police returned fire, killing Montana at the scene, while no officers were injured. The two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office investigates the incident. Possessed has expressed condolences to Montana's family and called the incident tragic.
