Israel Defense Minister Confirms 60% Hamas Gaza Tunnels Remain Intact

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has emphasized that the primary strategic objective in Gaza is the complete destruction of Hamas's terror tunnels, 60% of which remain intact. Katz has instructed the IDF to focus on demolishing these tunnels, particularly those located in areas under Israeli control, as part of a broader plan to demilitarize Gaza and disarm Hamas. He conveyed to U.S. Vice President JD Vance that the ongoing efforts align with President Trump's plan, underscoring the importance of dismantling all tunnels and confiscating Hamas's weapons to ensure it no longer governs Gaza. The remaining tunnels are situated on both sides of the so-called Yellow Line, including areas under Israeli military presence, and some have been linked to recent attacks on Israeli soldiers. Despite progress in destroying key attack and command tunnels, many tunnels used by Hamas for movement remain, necessitating continued Israeli military operations even during ceasefires. Katz also stressed the moral obligation to return all hostages and fallen soldiers as part of the mission to achieve victory in Gaza.
