Kraft Heinz Modernizes U.S. Plants Amid Tariff Pressure

Kraft Heinz is investing $3 billion to modernize its 30 U.S. factories, marking its largest domestic investment in a decade. The upgrades are intended to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and accelerate new product development as the company contends with weakening consumer sentiment and reduced sales forecasts. Recent U.S. tariffs, including a 10% levy on some imports, influenced the decision, though most Kraft Heinz products remain domestically sourced. The investment is part of a long-term strategy to maintain market share and food production capacity. About 3,500 construction jobs will be created, but there will be minimal permanent workforce expansion. Kraft Heinz has asked suppliers to provide 60 days' notice before raising prices to help manage cost pressures.
