Idina Menzel’s 'Redwood' Closing Early on Broadway

The show, which premiered at La Jolla Playhouse before opening at the Nederlander Theatre in February, struggled with declining ticket sales and filled only about 75% of seats in recent weeks. Despite praise for Menzel's performance and being named a New York Times Critic’s Pick, the musical received mixed reviews overall. 'Redwood' is the first Broadway production to announce its closure following this year's Tony snubs, highlighting the current financial and competitive pressures on Broadway. During its run, the show raised over $2 million for social impact causes and partnered with organizations in support of its themes. The production will have played 127 performances, including 17 previews, at the time of closing.
