Early Voting Begins Across Texas for Local Elections

Early voting has commenced in several Texas communities for upcoming local elections. In San Antonio, residents are casting ballots for a new mayor and, depending on the district, city council seats, with voting available at approximately 45 locations. The City of Katy is holding early voting for both its mayoral race and five proposed changes to the city charter, with joint polling sites also serving Katy ISD school board elections. For Katy ISD, voters are selecting candidates for two trustee positions, and the candidate with the most votes wins, as runoffs are not required. Meanwhile, most May 3 city and school elections in Harrison County have been canceled due to uncontested races, but a proposition regarding a local sales and use tax for Emergency Services District No. 1 remains on the ballot for eligible residents.
