Hargreaves Lansdown Co-founder Peter Hargreaves Steps Down After £5.4bn Private Equity Takeover

Peter Hargreaves, co-founder of Hargreaves Lansdown, is stepping down from the board following the firm's £5.4 billion private equity takeover, handing his position to his son Robert. Having recently rejoined the board to provide continuity during the ownership transition, Hargreaves expressed confidence in the new leadership's direction and the company's future success. Robert Hargreaves, who has been a board observer and has experience both within Hargreaves Lansdown and at the investment fund Blue Whale, will take over the role. The co-founder had previously stepped down from the board in 2015 but returned earlier this year to support the firm through the change of ownership involving private equity firms such as CVC Capital Partners, Nordic Capital, and an Abu Dhabi investment arm.
