Woman convicted of killing frail 97-year-old man in Dundee flat

Tandy Swinton, 44, was found guilty of culpable homicide for the fatal attack on 97-year-old William Lambie in April 2024 at his Dundee flat. Swinton pushed the frail Lambie, who weighed only five stone, causing him to fall and sustain severe injuries; he died five weeks later after surgery and rehabilitation. Originally charged with murder, she was convicted of the lesser offence following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh. Swinton had a history of targeting elderly victims, including previous convictions for assaulting Lambie in 2020 and robbing other pensioners, with a total of 26 prior convictions. Lambie was described by friends as a devout Christian and an inspirational member of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Swinton faces a significant jail sentence, with sentencing scheduled for December.
