Biggie Apologized to Xscape Night Before Death, Says Tiny Harris

Shortly before his death in March 1997, The Notorious B.I.G. apologized to members of Xscape for insulting their looks in his 1994 track 'Just Playing (Dreams).' According to group members Tiny Harris and Kandi Burruss, Biggie approached them at a Soul Train Awards afterparty, expressed deep regret for his words, and acknowledged that he was wrong, saying, 'I’m ugly as hell. Y’all is beautiful, and I just wanted to say I apologize.' While some members were hesitant to speak with him due to lingering hurt, Tiny accepted the apology on behalf of the group. The encounter was especially poignant as Biggie was killed just 20 to 30 minutes later. Burruss later expressed regret for not accepting his apology in person, reflecting on how holding grudges can seem trivial in hindsight. The apology brought a sense of closure for at least some members of Xscape.
