Multiple DOT Road Projects Announced
State and local DOTs announced several traffic projects this week across New York, Florida, Pennsylvania and South Carolina, including closures, bridge work, intersection upgrades, traffic‑calming installations, and resurfacing. In Albany, the ramp from I‑787 northbound Exit 3 to the South Mall Expressway will close 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on Oct. 7–8 for a routine bridge inspection, with drivers detoured via U.S. Route 9/20 and Broadway in Rensselaer. In DeWitt, the Kirkville Road eastbound on‑ramp to I‑481 southbound began closing weekdays 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Oct. 3 and will run through early April 2026 for bridge work on the I‑81 Viaduct Project, with a signed detour and doubled fines in the work zone. Jacksonville’s Western Boulevard and Jacksonville Parkway intersection will get $8.5 million in safety and traffic‑flow upgrades under a Barnhill Contracting Co. project that will begin Oct. 27 and finish by summer 2027. Pittsburgh is installing five speed tables, signage and markings on Southern Avenue as part of its Vision Zero program, with flaggers and temporary no‑parking during daytime work, and Berkeley County began paving in Goose Creek on Sept. 29 with 7 a.m.–7 p.m. lane closures, one lane maintained and flaggers as part of county and ARPA resurfacing projects.
