Jimmy Butler has bought a minority stake in NWSL side San Diego Wave FC, joining the club’s ownership group as a Poway resident and longtime soccer fan. He said investing in the Wave is a dream, aiming to “build something lasting” and help set a new standard for women’s sports. Butler joins high-profile minority owners including Alex Morgan and adds to his business portfolio that includes his BIGFACE brand. The Levine Leichtman family completed its takeover of the Wave in 2024 at a reported valuation around $120 million (some outlets cite an earlier $113 million figure), and controlling owner Lauren Leichtman welcomed Butler’s competitive, global perspective.
