Mexican Grand Prix Marks 10th Anniversary as Major Economic and Cultural Event

The Mexican Grand Prix is celebrating its 10th anniversary since returning to the Formula 1 calendar in 2015, marking a decade of sold-out crowds and significant economic impact for Mexico City. Despite the absence of popular Mexican driver Sergio Perez this season, the event sold out through strong community support and high enthusiasm for Formula 1. The race has grown into a key platform for showcasing Mexico's vibrant culture, resilience, and capability to host international events, contributing substantially to local tourism by filling hotels and restaurants. Organized through a trust fund with private contributors, the Grand Prix operates without public money and is seen as a major economic boost and positive image builder for the city. Event director Federico Gonzalez highlighted the collaborative efforts among FIA officials, local government, and private sponsors to continuously enhance the visitor experience and manage challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The Grand Prix also serves as a precursor and promotional platform for other major events, including the upcoming 2026 soccer World Cup co-hosted by Mexico.
