NASCAR Fines Carson Hocevar $50,000 at Kansas

NASCAR fined Carson Hocevar $50,000 for revving and spinning his tires while safety workers attended his beached No. 77 Chevrolet after a spin at Kansas Speedway that left him with multiple flat tires. The incident occurred on lap 260, prevented the car from rolling, endangered safety personnel, triggered a caution and helped prompt overtime; Hocevar finished 29th after having earlier been involved in an 11-car crash. Spire Motorsports had previously fined Hocevar $50,000 for derogatory comments about NASCAR's visit to Mexico City, marking this the second $50,000 penalty this year. Hocevar has criticized NASCAR's declining TV viewership and lack of fan care, comments that come amid 2025 media deals with Amazon Prime and TNT Sports and expansion to Mexico City even as some broadcasts, including New Hampshire and Kansas, have posted year-over-year ratings declines.
