Maine Man Arrested for Threats to Florida Teen

James Maynard, a 32-year-old from Pittsfield, Maine, was arrested after a two-and-a-half-year investigation into violent threats he allegedly made against a Florida teenager via Xbox and Snapchat. Starting in July 2022, Maynard is accused of sending multiple death threats, threatening to burn down the victim’s house and make their family disappear, using anonymous gamer tags and evading blocks by changing profiles. The juvenile victim, who had never met Maynard, reported the escalating threats to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in November 2022. Authorities in Florida, collaborating with Maine law enforcement, identified Maynard in January 2025 and arrested him on April 25 on charges of written or electronic threats to kill. Maynard remains held in Maine, awaiting extradition to Flagler County, Florida, as the investigation continues and additional charges may be pending. Sheriff Rick Staly underscored the seriousness of the threats and law enforcement’s commitment to prosecuting offenders regardless of location.
