Trump Rules Out 2028 Vice Presidential Run

President Trump said he would not run for vice president in 2028 to try to circumvent the Constitution’s two-term limit, calling the idea "too cute" and saying it "wouldn’t be right," remarks he made aboard Air Force One while traveling to Japan. The 22nd Amendment bars presidents from being elected to more than two terms, but some allies — including former adviser Steve Bannon — have floated schemes such as a J.D. Vance ticket that would resign to reinstall Trump, and Bannon said "there is a plan." Trump has nonetheless left open the possibility of seeking another presidential term himself and has promoted "Trump 2028" messaging. He also praised possible Republican ticket combinations such as J.D. Vance alongside Marco Rubio.
