Multiple Dead in Worldwide Road Crashes

A string of recent road tragedies across multiple countries has left several people dead, many involving motorcycles and scooters. In Nassau County, 37-year-old Kwabena Awuku of Queens was critically injured in a collision with a 2021 Ram box truck on Lincoln Avenue on Oct. 3 and later died at hospital. In California, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup on Highway 49 in Grass Valley, and a solo rider on a Harley‑Davidson Sportster crashed into a raised curb on Highway 198 in Visalia and later died; the CHP is investigating and seeking witnesses. In India, a speeding pickup van struck a scooter in Gurugram after Diwali shopping, killing 40-year-old Anita Devi and injuring her husband while authorities have registered an FIR and are reviewing CCTV, and near Pune’s Lonikand 53-year-old Rajendra Chavan died after being hit by a container truck and then struck by a trailing tractor. Other recent fatalities include a 24-year-old motorcyclist in Battle Creek, Michigan, and a man in his 40s killed on the A414 near Chipping Ongar; in Nottingham a 21-year-old rider died on Bobbers Mill Bridge and a 35-year-old woman has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Investigations are ongoing in most cases.
