Georgia Politician Arrested in Multi-Agency Human Trafficking Operation

A multi-agency sting operation in Georgia, named 'Operation Lights Out,' resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals, including Carl Sprayberry, a former Democratic candidate for the Georgia State House, on charges related to human trafficking and child exploitation. The operation targeted suspects attempting to exploit children online by arranging to meet minors for sex after explicit communication on social media and dating platforms. Undercover officers posed as children during the operation, which involved coordination between the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Authorities emphasized that no children were harmed during the operation and urged parents to monitor their children's online activity. Sprayberry, who had previously run for Georgia House seats in 2020 and 2024, was among those charged. Officials stressed the importance of proactive law enforcement and parental vigilance to combat such crimes.
