New Details on Trump's Weaponization Working Group
President Donald Trump's administration formed an Interagency Weaponization Working Group (IWWG), organized by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, to identify and correct alleged past "weaponization" of federal agencies under an inauguration-day executive order directing the attorney general to coordinate such reviews. Government records and reporting say the group has met since at least April or May and holds regular biweekly meetings, with Reuters identifying 39 participants from the White House, ODNI, CIA, DOJ, DOD, FBI, DHS, IRS, FCC and other agencies. Reported members include DOJ attorney Ed Martin and ODNI official Paul McNamara. Administration officials frame the effort as accountability and deweaponization, while several outlets and critics characterize it as a drive for retribution; the White House has pushed back saying the reporting is not new.
