André 3000 Unveils Piano Album at Met Gala

André 3000 returned to the Met Gala for the first time in 17 years, wearing a custom Burberry jumpsuit and a 30-pound baby grand piano on his back, styled by Law Roach to fit the 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' theme. His appearance coincided with the surprise release of '7 Piano Sketches,' an instrumental EP of seven improvisational, lyricless piano tracks that originated as private recordings. André described the project as the 'freest emotionally and best I’ve felt personally,' with musical inspirations ranging from jazz to classical icons. The experimental release follows his previous flute-focused album and comes as he receives an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee and OutKast is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
