Cannes Film Festival Adds Kristen Stewart's Directorial Debut, Multiple Films
Kristen Stewart's directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, has been added to the 2025 Cannes Film Festival lineup and will compete in the Un Certain Regard section, which highlights emerging talent. The film, starring Imogen Poots, explores themes of trauma, healing, and self-discovery, following Yuknavitch’s journey from a turbulent childhood to artistic fulfillment. Also joining the festival is Lynne Ramsay's Die, My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, which will compete for the festival’s top prize. Additional notable entries include Saeed Roustaee’s Woman and Child in the main competition and Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, in Un Certain Regard. This year’s lineup features a significant presence of films by women directors, matching the festival’s previous record. The festival will also honor Pierre Richard with a tribute and includes films from acclaimed directors such as Wes Anderson and Richard Linklater.
