Mohammad Amir Rejoins Essex for T20 Blast 2025

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has rejoined Essex for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast season, having previously played for the club from 2017 to 2019. Amir, a seasoned T20 specialist with 71 international wickets in 62 T20Is and over 370 wickets in 322 T20 matches globally, will strengthen Essex’s bowling attack throughout the group stage, with the option to extend his contract if the team advances to the knockouts. During his earlier stint, Amir contributed to Essex's historic double-winning season in 2019 and took 24 wickets in 21 matches for the club. Director of Cricket Chris Silverwood expressed enthusiasm for Amir’s return, highlighting his experience and positive impact on the squad. Amir, who recently played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, shared his excitement about rejoining Essex and hopes to help the team achieve success this season. Essex’s T20 Blast campaign will begin against Hampshire Hawks on May 30.
