Kacey Musgraves Signs as First Artist for Relaunched Lost Highway Records

Kacey Musgraves has signed with the recently relaunched Lost Highway Records, making her the first artist on the label since its revival. Musgraves was previously the final artist signed to Lost Highway in 2011 before it was absorbed by Mercury Nashville, a move that delayed her debut album's release under the Lost Highway name. Lost Highway, known for supporting unconventional or 'outlier' artists, has a reputation for nurturing creative talent on the fringe of country and Americana music. The label's revival, now backed by Interscope and led by executives John Janick, Robert Knotts, and Jake Gear, is being celebrated as a full-circle moment for Musgraves, who credits the label for believing in her traditional country sound early on. To commemorate her return, Musgraves released a cover of “Lost Highway,” the song that inspired the label's name. Industry leaders such as Janick and Lost Highway founder Luke Lewis have praised Musgraves as emblematic of the label's distinctive, culture-shifting legacy.
