HII Completes Second Sea Trials for Destroyer Ted Stevens

HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division successfully completed the second builder's sea trials for the guided missile destroyer Ted Stevens (DDG 128), testing its main propulsion, combat, hull, mechanical, and electrical systems in the Gulf of America. Key systems tested included the Flight III AN/SPY-6 (V)1 radar and Aegis Baseline 10 combat system, validating their performance to ensure the ship meets or exceeds U.S. Navy requirements. The trials demonstrate Ingalls and the Navy's strong teamwork and commitment to delivering the destroyer to the fleet, with ongoing focus on thorough testing ahead of acceptance trials. Ted Stevens is among five Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyers currently under construction at Ingalls, which has delivered 35 such destroyers to the Navy to date. These next-generation surface combatants feature design modifications that significantly enhance their capabilities compared to earlier variants. Ingalls Shipbuilding, which has built destroyers for over 86 years, is Mississippi's largest manufacturing employer.
