Tenth Victim of Suspected Serial Killer Herb Baumeister Identified
Authorities have identified Daniel Thomas Halloran as the 10th victim of suspected Indiana serial killer Herb Baumeister, nearly three decades after thousands of human bone fragments were discovered at Baumeister's Fox Hollow Farm property. Halloran's remains, found in 1996, were identified through advanced forensic testing and genetic genealogy conducted by Othram, Inc., reflecting significant advancements in forensic science. Baumeister, considered one of Indiana’s most notorious serial killers, is believed to have targeted mostly gay men in the Indianapolis suburb of Westfield during the late 1980s and early 1990s, luring victims to his property before killing them and disposing of their bodies. The identification of Halloran represents continued efforts by law enforcement and forensic experts to bring closure to the families of the missing, despite Baumeister's death by suicide in 1996. Recent years have seen renewed investigations resulting in the identification of additional victims as authorities work to analyze the nearly 10,000 bone fragments recovered from the site. Officials emphasize the importance of these efforts in restoring names and stories to the victims and providing long-awaited answers to their families.
