Planning Approved for 345 Affordable Homes in Wilton Cork City

Planning permission has been granted for a significant affordable housing development in Wilton, Cork City, involving 345 new homes including 16 townhouses and 329 apartments across three blocks up to six storeys high. The development, managed by the Land Development Agency (LDA), will also feature amenities such as a crèche, outdoor play areas, and podium gardens, with new pedestrian and cycle links planned. Construction is expected to begin in 2027 with the first homes delivered by 2029. Separately, Cork City Council approved plans for 155 social and affordable homes in Lehenaghmore despite residents' concerns about inadequate infrastructure and lack of amenities, with the council committing significant investment to address these issues. The LDA is also active in other Cork locations, including Shanakiel and the Docklands, with several hundred homes in development or planning stages. Additionally, Belfast City Council has approved three residential projects totaling 160 new homes, supporting the city's community housing targets.
