Sam Hunt Racing Plans Two-Car NASCAR Xfinity Lineup With Burton, Thompson for 2026

Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) is expanding to field two full-time cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2026 season, with Dean Thompson returning to drive the No. 26 Toyota GR Supra and Harrison Burton joining as the full-time driver of the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra. Thompson, who is completing his first full-time Xfinity season with SHR, has shown significant growth in confidence and performance, highlighted by multiple organizational records and consistent finishes. Burton, a NASCAR Cup Series winner and 2025 Xfinity playoffs driver, returns to Toyota and SHR, a move he describes as "going back home." Team owner Sam Hunt emphasized the importance of team culture, praising both drivers for their maturity, work ethic, and fit with the organization's vision. The team also announced crew chief assignments: Kris Bowen will continue with Thompson's No. 26 team, while Brian Gainey, who has prior experience working with Burton, will lead the No. 24 team. SHR aims to leverage this expansion to build on its growth and competitiveness since its 2019 debut, with support from Toyota Racing Development.
