Kyle Larson Prioritizes NASCAR All-Star Race Over Indy 500 Qualification
Kyle Larson, who is preparing for his second attempt at the Indianapolis 500, has indicated that he will likely skip the Fast Six qualifying session for the Indy 500 if it conflicts with the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. This decision is influenced by the significant prize money at the All-Star Race, which Larson values over the chance to compete for pole position at Indianapolis, stating he would rather start sixth at Indy than miss out on racing for a million dollars. The qualifying schedule for the Indy 500 has shifted an hour later this year, making it more challenging for Larson to participate in both events if he advances to the pole shootout. Last year, Larson barely managed to make it from Indianapolis to North Wilkesboro in time for the All-Star Race, but the new timing makes such a turnaround less feasible. Hendrick Motorsports and Larson have already made it clear that NASCAR events, including the Coca-Cola 600 and the All-Star Race, will take precedence this year over his Indy 500 commitments, marking a shift from last year's approach. Larson emphasized that his decision also depends on whether his car is fast enough to qualify for the Fast Six, leaving some uncertainty until race weekend.
