Bipartisan U.S. Delegations Attend Pope Francis' Funeral in Rome
Bipartisan delegations from both the U.S. House and Senate will attend Pope Francis' funeral at the Vatican, reflecting the late pontiff's global influence and past engagement with American lawmakers. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise will lead a group of representatives, while Senator Susan Collins heads a Senate delegation, each honoring the legacy and teachings of Pope Francis. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are also expected to attend, alongside other world leaders. Pope Francis, who died at age 88 after recent health struggles, was the first pontiff to address a joint session of Congress in 2015. Tens of thousands have paid their respects as he lay in state, and the funeral will be held in St. Peter’s Square. The Pope’s final wishes include burial in St. Mary Major Basilica.
