N.H. Teen Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Collision
John Burke, 19, of Hudson, New Hampshire, has been charged with second-degree murder and multiple related offenses after allegedly intentionally striking and killing 57-year-old motorcyclist Jeffrey Day in Litchfield on April 30. Police say Burke, while driving a Toyota Corolla under the influence, deliberately crashed into Day's motorcycle, which then slid into the path of a Mitsubishi Outlander, causing a subsequent collision. Witness statements and physical evidence supported the conclusion that the initial crash with the motorcycle was intentional. Burke suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, while the driver of the Mitsubishi was treated at the scene and released. Authorities also allege Burke tried to influence a witness's statement, resulting in a charge of witness tampering. Burke was scheduled for arraignment as the investigation continues.
