Russian missile drone strikes kill 4 in Ukraine amid Zelensky calls for Western air defenses
Russian missile and drone attacks overnight killed at least four people and wounded 20 across Ukraine, including Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region, causing significant damage to residential and non-residential buildings. Ukraine's air force intercepted some of the attacks, but President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for advanced Western air defense systems, particularly Patriot missile defenses, to protect Ukrainian cities from ongoing assaults. Zelenskyy also called on the U.S. and allies to expand sanctions on Russian oil and to supply long-range missiles like Tomahawks to enable Ukraine to strike deeper into Russian territory. Despite the attacks, civilians in Kyiv continued daily life, demonstrating resilience amid the conflict. The president's appeals come amid international discussions, including talks in London with European leaders, focused on increasing military support and protecting Ukraine’s infrastructure as winter approaches. These developments highlight the ongoing intensity of the conflict and Ukraine's reliance on strengthened Western military aid to counter Russian aggression.
