Karim Moore sentenced up to 22 years in Detective Reckling's murder case
Karim Moore, a 19-year-old from Clinton Township, was sentenced to up to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges including conducting a criminal enterprise, receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, and felony firearm, all related to the June 2024 murder of Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy Bradley Reckling. Moore was one of three individuals charged in connection with the case, which stemmed from an investigation into a car theft ring associated with multiple carjackings and vehicle thefts across several counties. Reckling was killed in what officials described as an ambush while following a stolen vehicle; he was shot after the suspects exited and opened fire. The primary murder charge is faced by Raymone DeBose, while Moore and Marquis Goins were charged as accessories and for their roles in the criminal enterprise. As part of a plea agreement, additional charges against Moore were dropped. Moore admitted to being in the stolen vehicle but denied firing shots, citing concerns for his safety after prison as a reason for limited cooperation with investigators.
