Manteca Police Shoot Man After Alleged Car Ramming

Charles McGonegal, 69, was shot and killed by Manteca police after ramming multiple police cruisers with his vehicle in the parking lot of an In-N-Out Burger. The incident began when McGonegal, behaving aggressively in the drive-thru and ramming another customer's car, was asked to leave the restaurant. When officers arrived in response to a disturbance, McGonegal rammed a patrol car and, after a 20-minute standoff with attempted negotiations, proceeded to ram two more police vehicles. Officers then opened fire, and McGonegal was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries. No officers were injured during the confrontation. The shooting is under investigation by local authorities and the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.
