Multiple Deaths Reported at Disney Parks

The Orange County Medical Examiner identified a guest found Thursday at Bay Lake Tower as 28-year-old Matthew Cohn, but said its investigation is not complete and the cause and manner of death have not been determined. Cohn’s death is the third reported on or near Disney properties in about 10 days, after 31-year-old Summer Equitz was found Oct. 14 at the Contemporary (ruled a suicide from multiple blunt-impact injuries) and a man in his 60s died after a reported medical episode at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Authorities said there were no signs of foul play in the Fort Wilderness case, while videos and eyewitnesses showed a heavy law-enforcement presence, caution tape and a temporary tent near Bay Lake Tower as responders worked that scene. A separate earlier incident at Disneyland in Anaheim involved a woman in her 60s who suffered a medical episode on the Haunted Mansion and later died, bringing the recent total of fatalities at Disney properties this month to multiple cases under review. Officials say investigations and official exams are ongoing, deputies have disputed some social-media claims about the incidents, and Disney and relevant law-enforcement agencies have been contacted for comment.
